Vol. 235 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Industrial Alcohol.

81.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the statement in the Report on Science and Irish Economic Development to the effect that the high cost of industrial alcohol may lead to substitution of other anti-knock agents, and that this would seriously affect the activities of Ceimicí Teoranta, he will take steps to expand the operations of the company and to safeguard the interests of its employees.

The petrol companies are required by the Industrial Alcohol Act, 1938, to purchase the industrial alcohol produced by Ceimicí Teoranta. I should add, however, that Ceimicí Teoranta, with the assistance of consultants, are at present studying the possibility of expanding their operations by diversifying their activities.
