Vol. 235 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dumping on Limerick Site.

43.

Mr. O'Malley

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that an open space at Wall Field, Garryowen, County Limerick, is being used as a general dump by, inter alia, Limerick Corporation and by a hospital in Limerick city; and that dumping includes medical refuse, syringes and human blood; and if, in view of the considerable danger to public health in the locality, he will take steps to prevent any further dumping of any kind on this site.

I understand from Limerick Corporation that some indiscriminate dumping occurred at the open space at Wall Field, notwithstanding that the site was intended to be used solely for the disposal of builders' rubble. I am informed that the corporation are now taking steps to prevent further indiscriminate dumping there.
