Vol. 235 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Firearms Certificates.

49.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the remarks of a justice in the Dublin District Court on 11th June, 1968 regarding the need to examine the issuing of firearms certificates; and if he will comment on the matter.

The remarks in question appear to have been made in connection with a single incident.

Superintendents of the Garda Síochána have a statutory duty to consider on its merits each application for a firearm certificate and I am satisfied that they do so with a full sense of responsibility for the safety of the general public.
