Vol. 235 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Post-Primary Education.

39.

Mr. O'Malley

asked the Minister for Education what proposals are before his Department at present for the extension of facilities for post-primary education in Limerick city; and if he will expedite the sanctioning of all such proposals at the earliest possible date in view of the urgent need for such accommodation.

My Department has sanctioned the following building proposals for secondary schools in Limerick city:

New Schools: Scoil Carmel, O'Connell Ave., Holy Rosary School, Bishop Street.

Major extensions: Laurel Hill and Salesian Convents.

A further proposal to replace the Presentation Convent Secondary School, Sexton Street is under active consideration.

I can assure the Deputy that every effort will be made to have these cases expedited as much as possible.
