Vol. 235 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Facilities for Blind Persons.

30.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if the Government will examine the possibility of assisting blind persons by allowing them free radio and television licences.

Free radio licences are already available to blind persons under a scheme administered by the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs. Persons receiving blind pension from my Department are included in a scheme for free television licences which comes into operation on the 1st July, 1968. Details of the scheme were published recently in the press.
