Vol. 235 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Louth Housing Proposals.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give specific details of each housing proposal from Louth County Council, submitted to his Department and as yet not approved or sanctioned, both in respect of preliminary plans and finalised plans; and if he will include the date of submission and probable date of approval or sanction in each case.

The following housing proposals submitted by Louth County Council are at present under consideration in my Department:

(1) A request for approval to the acceptance of a tender for the erection of four cottages in the Cooley area was received in my Department on 3rd April, 1968, and a decision on it will be given shortly.

(2) Draft lay-out plans for a total of 90 houses were submitted on 19th June, 1968, and sanction was specifically requested for schemes comprising a total of 56 houses for which estimates of cost were also submitted, i.e., for—

(a) 32 houses at Termonfeckin,

(b) 16 houses at Haynestown,

(c) 8 houses at Tullyallen, Drogheda.

and for the erection of cottages on isolated sites at Annies, Kilcurry; Draghanstown, Dunany; Milltowngrange; Cortial; Commins, Dromiskin; Ardpatrick, Louth; Proleek, Ravensdale; and Littlemills, Dundalk. These proposals are being examined and a decision on them will be given as soon as possible.

Could the Minister tell us how soon he thinks this could be? We are pressing forward as hard as we can.

Is this the eight sites?

They will all be done as soon as possible.

Will it be six months or six weeks?

It will not be six months.

It is a question of weeks, the Minister hopes?
