asked the Minister for Justice if it is proposed to close Lismore garda station, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I mentioned in the course of replies to a number of recent Parliamentary Questions about Garda stations, I am at present examining the distribution of the Force throughout the country. Pending completion of this examination, I cannot say what stations in particular counties will be closed or reduced.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is intended to close Garda stations in County Limerick within the coming year; if so, how many stations are involved; and where they are situated.

asked the Minister for Justice when he proposes to have a new Garda station erected in Athy, County Kildare.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has any plans for the erection of a new Garda station in Athy, County Kildare.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 42 and 43 together.

I have been informed by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance that the Commissioners of Public Works have not yet acquired a site for the new station at Athy. I am not in a position at this stage to say when works on the erection of the new station are likely to commence.
