Vol. 235 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Violation of Tax Regulations.

61.

asked the Minister for Finance if any legal proceedings have taken place for violation of turnover and wholesale tax regulations; if such violations are taking place and if he considers existing regulations adequate to protect the public.

Legal proceedings have been taken in a number of cases for violation of the law and regulations relating to turnover tax and wholesale tax. The inspection of taxpayers' accounts continues to produce evidence of some breaches of the law and regulations. The regulations are considered to be adequate for the protection of the taxpaying public.
