Vol. 235 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Garda Station.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance the present user of the old Garda Síochána building at the junction of Rathmines Road and Rathgar Road, Dublin; and how soon steps will be taken to replace the present temporary structure being used as a Garda station with a new building worthy of the Garda Síochána and the neighbourhood.

The house at the junction of Upper Rathmines Road and Rathgar Road which was formerly used as living accommodation for single members of the Garda Síochána attached to Rathmines Station was surrendered to the owner following on the expiration of the lease on which it had been held.

Plans are at present being prepared for the erection of a new station fronting on Rathgar Road on a site adjoining the existing temporary station. It is hoped that a contract for the work will be placed within the next 12 months. The temporary building will, of course, be removed on completion of the new station.
