Vol. 235 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Legislation on Health Services.

50.

asked the Minister for Health when legislation will be introduced to implement the proposals of the White Paper on the Health Services.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to similar questions by Deputy Connor, Deputy Kyne and Deputy O'Connell on 28th March, 1968. The discussions and other preparatory work which I referred to then are still proceeding and I expect that I will be able to make an announcement about them before very long.

Would the Minister say if it is true that a press conference is to be held tomorrow to announce the new regions which the Minister told me he knew nothing about a week ago?

That is considerably wide of the question.

But still it is true?

It is considerably wide. I will not put up with this from Deputy Tully. This has nothing to do with the question which is about the introduction of legislation to implement the proposals of the White Paper. I will not accept that Deputy Tully has a right to put words into my mouth.

May I ask the Minister whether it is true or false that a press conference is being held tomorrow for the purpose of announcing the new regions which the Minister said he knew nothing about a few days ago when writing to me?

It is not true——

I will accept the Minister's word.

——that a press conference is to be held tomorrow or at any time in the near future that I am aware of to announce what the new regions will be. There may be a press conference tomorrow about another matter.

There may be a press conference to discuss the Consultative Council's report?

Sin ceist eile.
