Vol. 235 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Improvement of Killarney Home.

62.

asked the Minister for Health the present position relating to the proposed reconstruction and improvement scheme for St. Columbanus Home, Killarney.

It is presumed that the Deputy's question refers to the proposed new 100-bed unit which is intended to replace some of the unsatisfactory accommodation at St. Columbanus Home, Killarney.

I have recently approved of the acceptance by the health authority of tenders for the building work and the heating and electrical installations for the new unit. I understand that the health authority is taking steps to complete the necessary formalities preliminary to execution of the contract documents. It is expected that when the contracts have been signed work will commence without delay. I have at all stages regarded the completion of the new unit as a matter of urgency.
