Vol. 236 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Untenanted Cottages.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that there are two cottages untenanted for some time on the grounds of Albert College, Glasnevin, Dublin; and if, in view of the urgent need for housing accommodation in the city, he will arrange with the UCD authorities and with Dublin Corporation to have these houses made available for tenancy.

I am not so aware. I have, however, been informed by Dublin Corporation that it is not possible for them to identify with accuracy the cottages to which the Deputy refers, but that it is assumed that they are located in the area occupied by the main building complex of the Albert College. Under the terms of their contract with the University authorities, the Corporation are not due to get possession of any of the buildings in the main College complex, including the gate lodge at Ballymun Road, until 31st December, 1974. If, therefore, there are any vacant cottages within this complex, they are under the control of the University authorities.
