Vol. 236 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Housing Subsidy.

38.

andMr. Boylan asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Kildare County Council can receive a housing subsidy of 66? per cent in the case of only six tenants overholding married quarters on the Curragh who will be rehoused by the council; and if he will reimburse the council by the amount of subsidy lost as a result of rehousing the large number for which the full subsidy cannot be claimed.

The position regarding housing subsidy allowable on any new houses which may be built by Kildare County Council for allocation to persons overholding married quarters at the Curragh is indicated in the reply given by the Minister for Local Government to Deputy Boylan's Question No. 37 on 25th June, 1968.

There are no funds at the disposal of my Department from which the council could be reimbursed in the circumstances mentioned.
