Vol. 236 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal School Closure.

54.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to close Lettercran national school, County Donegal.

Preliminary discussions have taken place with the Reverend Manager in relation to the question of closing Lettercran national school and its amalgamation with Pettigo national school in the same parish.

The case has not yet reached the stage where I would be in a position to say when the school may be closed.

Would the Minister say if it is possible for a school to be closed and the pupils transferred to another school without the Reverend Manager being informed of the position?

That could not happen. I would like to know of a case.

It happened in Frayne, Athboy, County Meath, last week.

I will take it up. I am certain it did not happen.
