Vol. 236 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Housing.

23.

asked the Minister for Local Government what the present position is regarding the provision of local authority houses in Rush, County Dublin.

Dublin County Council have submitted lay-out plans to my Department for two sites of approximately 30 acres and 60 acres at Kenure Park, Rush. The plans, which provide for a total of 192 local authority houses, as well as 285 sites for private houses, a church, schools, a shopping centre and a caravan site, are at present being examined in my Department.

Could the Minister say when he is likely to be in a position to make a decision?

It should be very shortly—as soon as possible.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether there are proposals before his Department for the erection of unserviced houses in Lusk, County Dublin; and, if so, when these proposals will be sanctioned.

There are no proposals before my Department at present for the erection of houses in Lusk. A sketch layout for a housing scheme at Minister's Road, Lusk, was approved by me in principle last December. I understand from Dublin County Council that a layout providing for an interim scheme of ten potentially serviceable houses along the frontage of the site at Minister's Road will be submitted to me shortly, and that plans for a further scheme of ten potentially serviceable houses, to be erected on a number of small sites in Lusk village, will be completed shortly by them.

Could I ask the Minister to try to speed up the county council regarding this proposal as it is approximately five months since they promised to submit the proposal to the Department of Local Government?

Yes. I think the council have their proposal almost ready now.
