Vol. 236 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin School TV Sets.

33.

asked the Minister for Education the number of schools in Dublin which are provided with television sets.

Under a scheme introduced in August, 1964, 90 secondary schools in Dublin city and county have received grants from my Department towards the cost of purchasing television sets for use in connection with the programme "Telefís Scoile". It is possible that other secondary schools in Dublin city and county have purchased television sets without seeking grants under the scheme.

Nine vocational schools in the city of Dublin have been provided with television sets.

Is there any mention of providing television sets for primary schools?

That is a separate question.

Is it intended by the Department of Education that grants be made available for primary schools?

Not at the moment.

That is a separate question.

I asked a question as to the number of schools in Dublin provided with television sets. The Minister confined that to secondary and vocational schools.

I gave the number of schools in which there are television sets.

Which excludes primary schools.

The Minister gave the number of schools to which grants are available.
