Vol. 236 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Wicklow Industrial Development.

69.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the fact that 59 per cent of employment in West Wicklow is in agriculture compared to a national average of 35 per cent, he will take steps to stimulate urgently needed industrial development in the area by including West Wicklow in the area eligible for maximum grants under the Undeveloped Areas Acts.

There is a review of the existing industrial grants scheme proceeding and the outcome of this review will require the introduction of comprehensive legislation dealing with all aspects of industrial incentives, including the needs of particular areas. In the meantime, I am not in a position to take any steps in relation to a particular area.
