Vol. 236 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Finglas Ambulance Depot.

98.

asked the Minister for Health what plans are in train to provide for an improved health service and an ambulance depot in the Finglas area, Dublin; and when he anticipates that such a necessary service will be provided.

The provision of health services in a particular area is a matter for the health authority concerned in the first instance. I understand from Dublin Health Authority that it considers that the present service in the Finglas area is satisfactory.

In referring to the provision of an ambulance service I assume the Deputy has in mind an accident ambulance service. This is provided in the Dublin area by the Dublin Fire Brigade. I am informed that Dublin Corporation have plans at an advanced stage for the provision of a local fire station, to include an accident ambulance service in the Finglas area. Building is expected to commence within six months and the station should be in operation by 1970.
