(A) These companies are promotional and direct employment does not reflect the total employment created.

(B) The electricity supply industry is a capital intensive one and a comparison with othe organisations based on a simple capital/employee ratio will not give a meaningful result

(C) Of this figure £114,286,658 represents repayable capital. The balance is made up of approximately £12,000,000 rural subsidy and £2,500,000 consumers' contributions.

(D) In addition to this figure, grants totalling £1,598,075 were made to industrialists by the Company up to 31st March, 1968 out of funds supplied by the State.
