Vol. 236 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Dialling Complaint.

12.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why the complaints of a subscriber (details supplied) to the telephone section of his Department of repeated difficulty in getting dialling tone have been ignored; and when remedial action will be taken.

Under peak traffic conditions the particular section of the exchange to which the line in question is connected became overloaded. Following receipt of complaint from the subscriber some redistribution of the exchange equipment was carried out and the service is now generally satisfactory.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state why repeated complaints over six months were ignored?

I have been making inquiries about this and apart from a complaint on 1st June, I have no record of any complaints since last March, in the interim period.

The records of the Department should be improved.
