Vol. 236 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Collection of Mail.

12.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a group of residents in a rural postal sub-district wish to have their post collected daily by one of the group instead of having it delivered by the local postman; if he is prepared to facilitate this group by making an arrangement in the matter; and, if so, on what conditions.

: Rural residents who wish to have their post collected by an agent once a day from the post office from which it is normally delivered may do so by availing of the private bag service, details of which are given at pages 66 and 67 of Eolaí an Phoist (the Post Office Guide) Volume 1. The service is available for institutions, business firms or individual householders. Each householder wishing to participate must apply individually to the local head postmaster; must provide at his own expense a suitable locked bag and two keys and must pay a fee of £2 per annum.
