Vol. 236 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Farm Incentive Bonus Scheme.

13.

andMr. Donnellan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware of the extra work imposed on agricultural instructors by the introduction of the small farm incentive bonus scheme and the difficulty there will be for the instructors in implementing this scheme because of the pressure of ordinary work; and what steps he proposes to take to rectify the matter.

: I am aware that the operation of the small farm incentive bonus scheme will mean new work for the agricultural instructors. I therefore advised the county committees of agriculture over two months ago to review the position and to submit to my Department proposals for the appointment of any additional staff that may be found necessary. Any additional staff required will of course be sanctioned. In addition, the advisory staff of my Department are collaborating very closely with the chief agricultural officers in connection with the scheme.
