Vol. 236 No. 7

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Burtonport Harbour (Donegal).

19.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed (a) to carry out the urgently needed extensions to Burtonport pier, County Donegal; and (b) to clear the approach channel to the harbour.

: In order to avoid interference with the use of the harbour during the current herring season it was decided to defer commencement of work on clearance of the approach channel. The work will be begun next spring as soon as weather conditions are favourable.

The proposal to construct a new jetty and breakwater is being considered.

: So nothing will be done until next spring. At the time of the local elections there was a promise that this would be done. We will have a general election in or about next spring.
