Vol. 236 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Special Service Charges.

14.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the modifications in relation to special service charges by the ESB for new connections and for existing consumers.

The effect of the revised terms on which supply can be offered by the board is broadly as follows:—

SPECIAL service charge as percentage of normal fixed charge.

Original

Revised

Up to 50 per cent

No change

50 per cent to 400 per cent

50 per cent to 125 per cent

400 per cent and upwards

125 per cent and upwards

Special service charges applying to existing consumers at the date of revision are being adjusted automatically in line with the above.

Could I be quite clear on this? Does the Parliamentary Secretary tell us that those who are paying higher rates of special service charge than are stipulated in this new scheme will automatically have those rates reduced without representations being made on their behalf?

Yes, where they are paying higher rates——

Than those stipulated?

And automatically they will be reduced without having to make representations?
