Vol. 236 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois Courthouse.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the necessary work on the library and courthouse at Rathdowney, County Laois, is likely to start.

With the approval of the Government, the Minister for Finance has established a committee to consider, inter alia, the venues at which Court sittings may be held in the future. It would be inappropriate for me in the circumstances to decide on the proposal to build a courthouse at Rathdowney before the report of the committee has been considered.

Would the Minister indicate what is the position with regard to the library at Rathdowney?

A decision will not be made on that until the question of the courthouse is dealt with.

They are both the same building.
