Vol. 236 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - General Hospital Services.

94.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state for the year 1967 how many (a) major operations and (b) minor operations were performed at each of the public voluntary general hospitals listed on page 131 of the Report of the Consultative Council on General Hospital Services; how many outpatients were seen; and how many people were X-rayed at each hospital.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Figures of the number of operations carried out are not readily available. Figures in relation to outpatients are prepared on the basis of attendances rather than on the number of patients, while figures regarding numbers of patients X-rayed are for the year 1966 unless otherwise stated.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state for the year 1967 how many (a) major operations and (b) minor operations were performed at each of the county hospitals listed on page 135 of the Report of the Consultative Council on General Hospital Services; how many out-patients were seen; and how many people were X-rayed at each county hospital.

As the reply to this question is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission, to circulate it with the Official Report.

As information concerning the number of operations performed is not readily available, the statement contains instead the number of surgical patients treated during 1967 in each of the hospitals concerned. The particulars concerning persons X-rayed relates to the year 1966, as this information is not readily available for 1967.
