In accordance with the Budget statement of the Minister for Finance on 23rd April last, the pensions of widows of members of the Garda Síochána were, in common with those of other public service pensioners, increased with effect from 1st August, 1968. The increase was a flat 5 per cent, subject to an increase from £150 to £170, i.e. about 13½ per cent, in the minimum pension payable to the widow of a Garda.
