andMr. L. Belton asked the Taoiseach how much the £1 was worth in 1932, 1948, 1956, 1966, and 1967 in terms of the present pound.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the estimated amounts which would be required at mid-August, 1968 to purchase the same quantum of goods and services at retail prices as would £1 in the years specified.

Following is the statement:—
