Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Airport Facilities.

17.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what progress, if any, has been made in expanding the landing and handling facilities at Shannon Airport in preparation for the larger jets.

I would refer the Deputy to the statement published on 30th October, 1968, outlining plans for the future development of Shannon. I have placed in the Library a copy of the three documents for the information of Deputies.

Would the Minister not agree that it is his place to answer a Parliamentary Question? This Question was tabled by me on Monday morning and the Minister on Tuesday night issued a statement to the papers. When I table a Parliamentary Question I want a reply here in this House.

It would take a very long time to read the whole statement.

I insist on a reply to my question. This is a Parliamentary Question legitimately tabled and I demand a reply from the Minister.

The Chair has no control over ministerial replies.

Nor over Ministers, I think, judging by last night.

Are they not insulting enough people without insulting the Dáil?

It is not possible to insult the Deputy.

I have no intention of insulting the Dáil.

The Minister for Agriculture made a fair job of insulting the farmers.

I think the Taoiseach is about to insult him and not before time.
