asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries what sum of money was allocated towards agriculture in last year's Budget; and what amount of that sum was spent on administering it before it reached the purpose towards which it was allocated.

The total amount of State expenditure in relation to agriculture in the year 1967-68 was £68,968,000. Of this amount £49,208,443 was provided through the Vote for my Department and salaries, travelling and other staff expenses account for £3,965,000 of this or approximately eight per cent.
