34.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in respect of each of the years 1967-68 and 1968-69, the total amount allocated to local authorities out of the Road Fund; and the balance remaining in the Fund after allocation to local authorities for each of these years.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of each of the years 1966-67, 1967-68, and 1968-69, the total amount allocated out of the Road Fund to each local authority.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 34 and 35 together.

Regarding the allocations for 1966-67 I would refer the Deputy to my reply of 20th June, 1967. The allocations for 1967-68 and those for 1968-69, in so far as they are available, are in the form of a tabular statement which, again with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

The balance in the Road Fund on 31st March, 1968, was £41,497 2s 8d; the figure for 31st March, 1969, is of course, not yet available.

NOTES:—

1. The total allocations for 1967-68 and 1968-69 include a sum of £200,00 reserved for special grants for bridges, etc. Details are not included as all allocations have not yet been determined.

2. The total allocations for 1967-68 and 1968-69 also include special allocations of £500,000 and £400,000 respectively for the continuation of improvement works on arterial roads in the Dublin are.

3. Figures marked (a) do not include Main Road Upkeep Grant, the amounts of which are not yet known. However, estimates for these are included in the total £9,490,000 for the year.
