Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Increases.

63.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give details of the price increases approved by him since 1st January 1968; and the commodities and services affected.

64.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give details of each of the price increases which he has sanctioned since 1st July, 1968, including laundry charges, etc.; the amount of the increase in each case; and by how many points the cost of living has increased as a result.

I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 63 and 64 together and to circulate in the Official Report statements showing in respect of the periods 1st January to 30th June, 1968, and 1st July to 30th September, 1968, price increases, including laundry charges, of which I have raised no objection. I am unable to say what effect the permitted increases may have on the cost of living as the next consumer price index figure will relate to mid-November 1968 and will not be available for some time. The consumer price index at mid-August 1968, the latest date available, showed no change over that at mid-May, 1968.

Following is the statement:—

STATEMENT showing increases in prices to which the Minister for Industry and Commerce has not objected in the period 1st January to 30th June, 1968.
