Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission on Mental Handicap.

92.

asked the Minister for Health if he will issue a White Paper on the report issued in March, 1965, by the Commission of Inquiry into Mental Handicap.

93.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the disappointment caused by the delay in publishing the promised White Paper on the Report of the Commission of Inquiry into Mental Handicap; and if he will now state the date of publication.

94.

asked the Minister for Health when it is expected to publish the White Paper outlining in detail the long term Government proposals following the Report of the Commission of Inquiry into Mental Handicap.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 92, 93 and 94 together.

The drafting of the White Paper has been completed and steps for its publication are now being taken.

Does the Minister recall that it is five months since I made the request to have this matter expedited, but it got sidetracked in the fracas of the unnecessary referendum?

I will deal with the matter in further detail on the Estimate.

It was another good deed that could have been done but was not because of the waste of time and public money.
