Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recovery of Hospital Costs.

99.

asked the Minister for Health if he is now prepared to introduce legislation to entitle health authorities and hospitals to recover from the insurance companies concerned for the negligent parties the cost of hospitalisation and medical treatment of all persons injured in road traffic accidents instead of continuing the system of making the tax-payers and ratepayers pay such costs.

I am considering the inclusion of a provision on these lines in the legislation to implement the proposals in the White Paper on the health services and their further development.

I did not quite get the Minister's words. I am sorry. Did you say you are considering, or you are including?

I said I am considering. I can add I am in favour of including.
