Vol. 236 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo Estate.

106.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Lissadell estate, County Sligo, is now in the hands of the Land Commission; if any applications have been received for this estate; and when the division of it will be proceeded with.

Possession of some 2,630 acres on this estate passed to the Land Commission on Tuesday, 22nd instant. Having regard to the substantial acreage involved, considerable inquiries on the ground will be necessary before a scheme of division can be formulated and as yet I am unable to say when allotment will be feasible. A number of applications for allotments are already on record and these together with any further applications received will be fully examined in connection with the preparation of resale proposals. I should say that all eligible claimants, irrespective of whether or not they have made formal application, will be considered by the Land Commission before a scheme of division is approved.
