asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of each constituency (a) the average population per member and (b) the deviation from the national average, having regard to the Census of 1966, in the form of the table produced by the Central Statistics Office in connection with the Bill for the Electoral Act of 1961.

The average population per member for each constituency for elections to Dáil Éireann and the deviation from the national average, according to the results of the Census of Population, 1966, are set out in the following table.

Mr. Tully

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the population, according to the census of 1966, of each rural district and county electoral area in each county and province.

I would refer the Deputy to Volume I of the reports of the Census of Population of Ireland, 1966, in Table 9 of which are set out statistics of the population of each Rural District and of each County Borough, Municipal Borough and Urban District. Statistics of population of each County Electoral Area are contained in Table 15 of the same Volume.
