Vol. 236 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Estates.

129.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that his predecessor, in reply to a Dáil question early this year, stated that arrangements were completed to divide the Clifford Estate, Listellick, Tralee, County Kerry; and that to date this has not taken place; and if he will now state when it is proposed to divide the lands.

Hope that a scheme of division for the main portion of this 170 acre estate would be completed in time to allow the lands to be allotted last Spring was not realised. In the interests of ensuring that the scheme eventually settled would be the best one, it was deemed necessary to incorporate other lands already acquired or in process of acquisition in adjoining townlands. Composite resale proposals have now been formulated for the Clifford Estate and the other lands aggregating some 360 acres and I am hopeful that these proposals will be approved so as to permit allocation of a substantial part of the total acreage in the coming Spring.

130.

asked the Minister for Lands on what date his Department gained possession of the Peete Estate, Arabella, Ballymacelligott, Tralee, County Kerry; and when it is proposed to divide it.

As indicated in reply to previous Questions by the Deputy on 17th February, 1966, and 14th February, 1968, this 151 acre estate vested in the Land Commission in June, 1964. I understand that every effort is being made by the Land Commission to ensure that the lands are included in the current year's allocation programme.

It is taking a long time to divide a few acres.
