Vol. 237 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Improvement of Dublin Road.

22.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the dangerous condition of Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, Dublin; and if he will investigate the delay in the implementation of plans to place this avenue in a fit condition to allow motorists and pedestrians to pass in safety.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of the 30th November, 1967, to his previous question on the subject. Since then a public local inquiry has been held in relation to the Compulsory Purchase Order and that order was confirmed on 16th August, 1968.

The priority to give to road works and their execution are matters for the road authorities concerned and, apart from a small stretch of Carysfort Avenue which will be included in the Blackrock by-pass, no proposals have yet been made to me for the improvement of this road by Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation or Dublin County Council. I understand these authorities are in touch with each other but firm improvement plans have not yet been worked out.
