24.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the recent serious flooding in the town of Ballymote, County Sligo, which caused serious damage to property, especially on Keash Road; and what action he intends to take to prevent damage to the same property recurring through flooding.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to answer Questions Nos. 23 and 24 together.

I am informed by Sligo County Council that flooding recently took place in the areas referred to by the Deputy due to heavy rainfall.

The action, if any, to be taken in regard to flooding is a matter for consideration by the local authority concerned in the first instance.
