Vol. 237 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Traffic Wardens.

31.

asked the Minister for Justice the hours at which traffic wardens commence and conclude duty daily; and if steps will be taken to ensure that they will be on duty before illegal parking takes place, so as to prevent it, rather than after when the imposition of fines is the only available remedy.

Traffic wardens are utilised to best advantage during peak traffic hours on central city streets. Their duties at present are between 9.00 a.m. and 6 p.m. but when the service is expanded sufficiently it is intended to cover the period from 8.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Each traffic warden works four hours daily on a five-day week basis.
