Vol. 237 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Adult Education Courses.

51.

asked the Minister for Education what plans, if any, his Department have for expanding the facilities at present available for adult education courses; and if he will make a statement outlining his views on the role of adult education in this country.

The establishment of regional colleges and the building and extension of vocational schools will supplement the facilities for adult education already being provided by vocational schools and by the Dublin Institute for Adult Education and the College for Industrial Relations.

With regard to my views on the role of adult education in this country, I would direct the Deputy's attention to my address of 17th May last at the opening of the seminar on adult education which was held under the auspices of the Dublin Institute of Adult Education.
