Vol. 237 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Increases.

64.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (a) the items that have increased in price since the 6th April, 1965, (b) the price of such items at 6th April, 1965, and (c) the price at the present time.

I have not the information in the form in which the Deputy seeks it. Since October, 1965, I have been notified of many cases in which manufacturers proposed to increase their prices and I have published from time to time, since March, 1967, lists of the cases in which I have indicated that I would not object to an increase. I am not in a position to say in how many of these cases the increase was imposed and is being maintained.

65.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give a list of items that have increased in price since the 1st May, 1968; and the increases in each case.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing, in respect of the period 1st May to 31st October, 1968, increases in prices and charges of which I have been notified under the Prices Acts and to which I have raised no objection. It does not follow that all these increases were put into operation.

STATEMENT showing increases in prices and charges of which the Minister for Industry and Commerce has been notified and to which he raised no objection in the period 1st May to 31st October, 1968.
