Vol. 237 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Export Figures.

67.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what percentage was contributed by purely Irish firms to the 1967 export figure of £313,000,000 as distinct from the percentage contributed by foreign firms established solely for export.

Statistics of trade are not kept in a way which would enable the export figures to be broken down along the lines of the Deputy's question.

It is estimated that firms which have been aided by Government grants account for about one-third of total exports of transportable goods, that is about one-sixth of total exports. These firms, however, include firms which are wholly or partly Irish and also firms which sell part of their output on the home market.
