Vol. 237 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Complaint about Department Official.

27.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has received a complaint in regard to an officer of his Department who was on a personal visit to Abbeyleix, County Laois, recently and who had no connection with the picketing of the Parliamentary Secretary; if he has taken any action in regard to this complaint; if so, if there were any grounds for complaint; and, if not, if an apology will be made to the officer concerned.

The officer whom I assume the Deputy has in mind has stated that he accepts that his conduct was such that it could have given the impression that he was associated with the demonstration referred to. He has been informed that any such association would be incompatible with the duties and responsibilities of his position and he has undertaken to avoid giving such an impression in the future.
