Vol. 237 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Development Plans.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give the present position regarding the application to Dublin City of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963 relating to the making of development plans.

Dublin Corporation have not, as yet, made a development plan for the city as required under the 1963 Act. A draft plan was completed in 1967 and put on public display. Consideration of the objections and representations received in connection with the draft led to a decision to prepare a new draft plan and on 11th April, 1968, I made an order extending to 31st December, 1968, the period within which the plan was to be made. I understand that the revised draft has now been completed but, pending the result of a legal action which is the subject of an appeal to the Supreme Court, the city council have decided not to take any further action about the plan at this stage and they have applied to me for a further extension of time for the making of the plan up to the 31st December, 1969. I am at present considering this application.

Can the Minister make any comment on the plan put forward by certain architects which would lead to a variation in the draft plan for the Dublin area?

That is not the question I was asked.

I know, but it does seem to arise.
