Vol. 237 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Court Fees.

47.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will amend or make the appropriate representations with a view to amending the existing regulations so as to make possible and permissible the payment of duty or court fees on all circuit court and district court documents, such as civil bills, ejectments, criminal injury applications etc. by way of adhesive circuit court stamps rather than as at present by way of impressed stamps.

The Committee on Court Practice and Procedure recommended in their eighth interim report the use of adhesive court stamps for the payment of court fees on documents which are required to be filed or lodged in any court office. Their report containing this recommendation is being printed at present for presentation to both Houses of the Oireachtas.

To give effect to the committee's recommendation I would need to make new fees orders, in consultation with the Minister for Finance. I am examining the matter.
