Vol. 237 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Port Extension.

15.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether it is the policy of his Department to allow the extension of Dublin port in a northerly direction to the sea front at Clontarf and Dollymount; and, if so, whether he intends to consult the residents of Clontarf and Dollymount on this matter.

The Dublin Port and Docks Board have published longrange draft plans for the development of the harbour for many years ahead but the various stages of development provided for in this plan will be subject to the provisions of the Harbours Acts and the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, as appropriate which provide for the giving of public notice and consideration of objections.

I understand that the board will shortly apply for a Harbour Works Order for further reclamation eastwards of the B & I Ferry Terminal and the statutory public notice will be given to enable objections to be lodged and considered before the making of an Order.

Existing reclamation work which is proceeding in the harbour was authorised by the Dublin Harbour Works Order, 1967.
