Vol. 237 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Housing.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government what the present position is regarding the provision of houses in the Portrane-Donabate area of County Dublin.

Approval in principle was given by me last July to a draft layout submitted by Dublin County Council for the provision, on a site of 51½ acres at Portrane, of 73 private housing sites, 16 sites for temporary dwellings, 12 caravan sites and three residential shops. I understand from the Council that contract documents are being prepared for development work on the first stage of the proposal, which will make provision for 25 of the private sites and for all the temporary dwellings and caravan sites; that plans are being prepared by them for a small number of potentially serviced houses on a 12½ acre site which has been acquired by them in Portrane; and that they have acquired a site of three acres at Donabate which will be developed as soon as the necessary services become available.
