Vol. 237 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - National Gallery Entrance.

48.

asked the Minister for Education when the reconstruction to enable visitors to enter the National Gallery from the Kildare Street end will be finalised.

The question of access to the National Gallery from Kildare Street involves interests other than those of the Gallery and I am not in a position at present to state when consideration of the question may be finalised.

Am I right in saying that the Minister made a speech recently in the Gallery stating that this entrance would be open in the very near future?

Yes, but at the same time matters have to be resolved on the security aspect and I am working in conjunction with the Gardaí on this.

I understand that that aspect has already been solved.

The authorities have raised another issue but I hope to have the matter finalised shortly.
