Vol. 237 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Ore Exports.

69.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total quantity of ores exported from the Tynagh Mines in County Galway; and the value of those exports.

As the company operating Tynagh is a private concern, it would be contrary to normal practice to furnish this information. Certain information can, however, be ascertained from the company's latest annual report for the year ended 31st December, 1967. For the convenience of the Deputy, I can tell him that according to this report the total production of the Tynagh mine for the years 1966 and 1967 was 312,549 tons of concentrates with a net smelter value of $25,686,568. The mine commenced the production of concentrates only in December, 1965. Total output of the mine is exported.
